The Inner-City Foundation For Charity & Education is a 501(c)(3) foundation that supports organizations providing assistance, including food, clothing, shelter, counseling and education, to at-risk and needy children and adults of Fairfield County, Connecticut.

The Foundation strives to meet these critical needs by identifying and supporting those organizations that have proven, or have the strong potential, to be most effective at serving that population efficiently and well.

The Foundation extends its support to children and adults in need via programs and organizations that serve all equally, regardless of their race, religion, sex, ethnic origin or socio-economic background.

The Foundation has awarded more than $30 million in grants since 1992, including $15.4 million in scholarship aid for inner-city school students, and $6.6 million to social service agencies that provide food, shelter, health services, counseling, and help for those suffering from addiction or domestic violence.

In addition, the Foundation has awarded another $8 million to support programs for students with developmental and intellectual disabilities, recreation and education programs for children, and adult literacy and job-training programs that empower individuals to become self-sufficient.


The Inner-City Foundation for Charity & Education announced 17 grant awards today, awarding $447,500 to local Fairfield County programs and organizations.

Grant awardees include organizations and programs providing education and/or social services, including: Kolbe Cathedral High School, Catholic Academy of Bridgeport, Stamford Peace Youth Association, Shelter of the Cross, Family Centers, Bridgeport Rescue Mission, Laurel House, LifeBridge Community Services, HSC-Appleby School-Based Health Center, Malta House, Sterling House Community Center, New Covenant Center, Thomas Merton Center, Carver Foundation of Norwalk, Tiny Miracles Foundation, Catholic Charities Morning Glory Kitchen, and the Jewish Home for the Elderly.
